A Tale of Transporting Three Trains
The Mumbai Monorail project was implemented by the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority along with a consortium of Mumbai based conglomerate Larsen & Toubro and the Malaysia infrastructure firm Scomi Engineering Bhd. We collaborated with our Mumbai agent to deliver three sets of monorail cars to Mumbai. We were to pack, place in to the container and deliver it from our shipper’s factory to the container vessel.
The monorail car’s height stood at 4.8 meters. So, arrangements had to be made to stuff the cargo within the port premises. Two custom made spreader bars were used for tandem lifting to ensure stability and making sure no damage occurred to the car bodies. We coordinated closely with the port authorities since direct delivery was involved.
